Bangs & works meets UK bass & rave meets brainfeeder style hip hop meets noughties Rnb meets H-pop. The first thing that hits you is how catchy the thing is. Its not as messy as the morass of styles would have you think, it fact its a very focused record that grabs you and sucks you into its skittering world. It carries that Burial style meloncholic air really well throughout without being overbearing, even when the cheesy hardcore piano & breakbeats of 'Come1' seamlessly filter into electro-acoustic fingerpicking & breathy H-pop vocals the transition feels natural & unforced. It could be considered brave or foolhardy to create a record that is so derivative & obviously of its time, but the whole is very much greater than the sum of its parts and its comes out the other side sounding brilliantly original and like nothing else released in 2011.
